Ever since we moved from Toronto we had been missing Nando’s and Galito’s. When we heard of The Peri Peri Factory opening in Houston few months ago we were excited that we could finally have some halal flame-grilled peri peri chicken here.
Thankfully, we were not disappointed.
Menu
The menu included all the usual Peri Peri platters, burgers, wraps and sides.
We ordered the Full Sharing Platter which consisted of a whole chicken with a choice of two sides. We chose Peri Peri fries and rice as sides. We also ordered a plate of Peri Peri Chicken tenders with Mashed Potato from the Kids’ Menu. The quantity of food was perfect for our family of 5 (2 adults, 2 kids and a toddler).
They offer six levels of heat, so everyone from kids to spice lovers can get their fix.
Unlike other peri peri joints that we have visited, The Peri Peri Factory didn’t allow the Sharing Platter to be divided into Mild and Spicy. However, it was fine with us as we topped our share with their Hot sauce.
My daughter enjoyed her Chicken Tenders with their Garlic sauce.
Taste
Chicken was really succulent and flavorful. Unlike some other peri peri joints, it was not drenched in sauce. Instead, it had been properly marinated to allow the flavor to penetrate the chicken.
The only thing that left something to be desired was the rice. Usually, Peri Peri Rice is made with parboiled rice whereas they offered basmati rice.
Customer Service
Customer service was courteous and efficient.
Ambiance
The decor was trendy and youthful. The place was very neat and tidy. The staff had uniform T-shirts with a fun design.
I liked the concept of a hand washing station as it can get messy while eating bone-in chicken.
There was also a sauce station where one could choose from their variety of sauces according to the heat level desired.
