There is no dearth of halal restaurants in Sugar Land, Tx but it’s definitely not easy to find halal Thai food here.
Last Sunday we were not in the mood to have the usual desi, Mediterranean or Chinese fare . So we just decided to drive along Hwy 6 to see if we could find something different among the plethora of halal restaurants in the area.
We came across Thai Siam and remembered reading some good reviews about it. The place was packed for lunch but thankfully we managed to find a table .
Crispy deep fried roll served with Sweet n’ Sour dip, salad and peanut dressing
Menu
We ordered Tom Yung Goong soup and Chicken Wings as appetizers. For the main course we opted for Basil Delight Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken and of course, Pad Thai.
We were served a complimentary appetizer of crispy rolls with sweet and sour dip and salad with peanut dressing.
All the food was fresh and flavorful. We had the choice of chicken, beef or shrimp for most of the items but we chose chicken for most of them.
Tom Yung Goong Soup – Chicken, mushrooms, herbs flavored with lemon grass in spicy lime based broth
There was no pork on the menu.
Chicken Wings
Their homemade desserts like Coconut ice cream and Thai custard were tempting but we were too full to try them.
Pad Thai – oriental Thai noodles sautéed with chicken, egg in special sauce created with beansprout, ground peanut and lime.
Service
Even though the place was packed customer service was quick and courteous. The owner actively ensured that customers received good service. He assured us that all the food was halal.
Basil Delight – Stir fried chicken with hot pepper, onions and vegetables sautéed in spicy basil sauce.
Sweet n’ Sour Chicken
Ambiance
Thai Siam is located in a busy strip mall. The ambiance is very casual with some random knickknacks on the counter and walls which depict Thai culture.
