MESH Peri – Peri Grill: Restaurant Review

Peri – Peri chicken is a family favourite of ours. There are quite a few halal peri-peri joints in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and one is located right across the street from my home in Mississauga.  Thus, it’s no coincidence that we end up eating peri-peri chicken quite often.Last weekend my little one demanded peri – peri chicken from our neighbourhood peri-peri joint but since we were in the Heartland area we decided to try MESH Peri-Peri Grill for a change.

The restaurant opened about two years ago and is located at 5955 Latimer Drive, Mississauga amidst many other eating joints in the same parking lot. The ambience was bright, casual and family – friendly.

Mesh Peri-Peri Grill, Mississauga : Review

Even though it was a weekend, the timing was a bit odd ( around 6 pm ) , so there were just 2  or 3 other families apart from us.

We found the menu to be slightly more extensive than the other three Peri-Peri chains that we have visited. In addition to Peri-Peri chicken they also offer ribs, steaks and beef kebabs, along with a few appetizers.

We ordered the Peri Mix which consisted of half chicken, 1 kebab, 4 wings and 2 regular sides, reasonably priced at $25.99. We opted for BBQ wings for the kids. Mesh Peri – Peri has about ten different sauces with different heat levels. My husband and I ordered Hot Peri-Peri chicken and beef kebab . Even though we love a kick of heat in our food we were glad that we didn’t order anything hotter! For sides we ordered Peri rice and Spicy fries.

The chicken was tender and juicy and had loads of sauce, something which I enjoyed though it might be a bit overbearing for others. The rice was flavorful too. The beef kebab had more of a Mediterranean taste even though it was coated in peri-peri sauce but was moist and well cooked. The only disappointment were the fries which had a bit too much vinegar and salt for our taste.

Halal Peri-Peri Chicken at Mesh Peri-Peri Grill, Mississauga
The hostesses were cheerful and friendly, something which I often find lacking in other halal restaurants. Our hostess offered us a variety of table sauces but since the chicken was already quite hot, we skipped those.
The portion size was great. One Peri Mix was more than enough for the four of us ( two adults and two children under 8)
Overall, it was a good experience and we would love to go there again.
