The husband – wife team of Justin Fox Burks and Amy Lawrence aims to change that notion.
Hardcore Southerners themselves , the authors have been blogging about southern vegetarian food on their blog The Chubby Vegetarian and in the process have lost a combined one hundred pounds by refocusing their diets on vegetables, grains and fruit with the occasional indulgence.

I liked the personal touches in the introduction of each recipe. I also like the fact that most recipes in the book use common ingredients which are easily available at any major grocery store. The book has photos for each finished dish, as well as technique shots to guide the home cook. I feel that the photos could have looked even more appealing if the publisher had chosen to use glossy paper. Overall, this is a great book for anyone who is interested in Southern cooking.
