Dervish Tabletop Grill in Stafford, Tx is one of those restaurants where the dining experience matters much more than the food per se.
The restaurant offers à la carte menu as well as Chef’s Special buffet for dinner. The à la carte menu consists of a mix of halal Indo-Pak, Mediterranean as well as Chinese dishes.
We opted for the Chef’s Special buffet which consisted of :
Soups – Lentil Soup and Chicken Corn Soup
Hors d’oeuvres: – Yalanji (Stuffed grape leaves), Muhammara, Shawarma Pinwheel Bites, Hummus
Main Course: Chicken Biryani, Chicken Mansaf, Dal Palak, Haleem, Chicken Masala, Nihari, House Salad, Cucumber Raita, Naan
Desserts: Sweet Cheese, Kheer
Table Top Grill
The pièce de résistance at Dervish are their grilled items. The table top grill is filled with burning coal and skewers of different kinds of chicken, shrimp and beef kababs are kept warm on it.
Prime cuts like sirloin and ribeye steaks are served at the table.
Surprisingly, our favorite item turned out to be the grilled pineapple.
Service was exceptionally good. Our gracious hostess hostess Layla even informed us that we can login to our Yelp account to get a discount code.
The restaurant is divided into different sections for à la carte dining and buffet. Seating is very comfortable. Overall, the ambiance is good for formal occasions as well as casual dining.
Address: 12203 Murphy Rd, Stafford, TX 77477
The variety of food along with the service and ambiance totally justified the $24.99 per person price tag (1/2 off for kids). All of us, including my daughters and 2 year old son enjoyed the experience. The only thing that we missed was some pita bread/pita chips to go with the hummus and muhammara.
We will definitely be returning to Dervish Table Top Grill, Insha’Allah (if God wills).
